these cages.

these cages.

A Poem by Laine Johnson

time changes us.
we are a different person with each given second;
each fresh breath our lungs inhale.
call it evolution, if you will,
of the cells in your body and the thoughts in your head.
our bodies, yours and mine, are in an uphill battle,
in a constant fight of perfection
from the moments before.
blind are our eyes, for dwelling in these skeletons like cages
without recognizing the potential of life we could live in them.
we are wandering souls.
