Brielle

Brielle

A Poem by Her Laments for Icarus
"

This is a poem I wrote in the hospital when one of my best friends gave birth to her baby.

"

Oh my dearest tiny earthling,

It’s always a wonder

what great things you can bring.

We have never expected you this soon,

in fact, we weren’t expecting you at all.

Things have changed,

plans have been shifted

and it’s all for you little precious gem.

Sure he said he did not want you but hey, she did.

So here you are little being,

no one can stop you from breathing.

She lost him but she gained you.

We both know that she will always choose you.

So grow your weensy heart quickly,

and let them hear it beats, yes it beats!

Cuz Brielle, in the darkness of the night,

you are your own light.

Wow, I like your font. It sure looked artsy ;)

This is simple and does not have much frills or fancy words, but the deeper meaning of it is just sweet. I really liked how the font yu chose goes nicely with your poem really. I think this should be read to children of single parents like Brielle, since it would be very encouraging and motivational for them. Keep it up! :)

This a lovely straightforward poem that packs a punch of reality and truth. The truth is love, loyalty, devotion and maturity. The reality is he will never know the exquisiteness he has turned his back on. And Brielle's mother will be constantly bathed in the glow of her beautiful choice. Brava
