The Seagull

The Seagull

A Poem by Lana

There are no words
to explain
how in vain
my love flies out in the wind
in pain
that it has never been caught
that it has never been recorded
or seen
just drifting in the wind
There are no more
gifts for me to give out
for free
no bonuses
no unlimited coupons
I have given everything
the store is closing
flash mob looters ransacked my convenience store
it's never been a success anyway
all the people coming and going
were customers demanding
a better gift from me
oh there are no words
to explain
how my love has gone away
in vain
now drifting to the sea
like a dirty plastic bag once used at a local market
discarded as soon as the fruits have been sold
and the meat has been cut
and cooked for supper
i remain a dirty old bag eaten by a seagull
regurgitating the world's orders
while dying of thirst
