Find me a History

Find me a History

A Poem by Lady Shade

Find me a history

I can survive

That won’t leave a taste

In my mouth

Reminiscent of

Leftovers gone bad or other peoples sweat

Bring me a light

To see a beauty in me

That make be equivalent

To a bloodletting salvation

A draining of this selfhatred

Walk me through the waters

deepest in memory

Teach me to tread water

where I am unable to swim

Starve me in silence

so I may discover strength

Remember what hunger and sacrifice

offer to this piece of floating stone

Haunt me with the light

so I may respect darkness

and the solitude teaching me to swim

toward the warmest waters of my memory

Create in me a definition

so that I may feel alive

and call myself by name instead of emotion

in this ocean of undefined waters

Design for me a history

that won’t leave a wicked taste in my mouth

reminiscent of sweat, death and sin

or any of these places I have stumbled through

Make me an equal

unafraid of paradise or decadence

passionate in life after surviving this death

Bring me a life so that I may finally Live
