"Dirt or Mother Earth?"

"Dirt or Mother Earth?"

A Story by Larry Dyson
"

a hard skined story about My relationships and life...

"

"Dirt ..where did this Dirt come from...?"

Mother said this after looking at her hands and finger nails.. noticing the dried scat on her hands and nails where she had been digging at the itch..

Alzheimers disease is the pits for the one in it and the realtives left to deal with its affect....Where do I fall in the understanding and the interactive play of this life..

Child returning to the role his parent took early in life...reciprocal action as the dharma of life openly reveals our cycles?

Child to parent ....as Life's  script...plays out...

So.... will she be the dirt...under the fingernails of God as Her life passes in revue or

Will diety ..reveal a deeper look into the heart motives regardless the actions of today...? I think her beautiful spirit will be the cause of her revue to the positive of her giving life.

Author's Note

Larry Dyson
these are my observations on hearing my mother remark on her situation and my musings on the subject.. did I say angrily that she need to stop that or did I just clean the mess and love her more...how many times had I done the same while trying to learn the world I was living in as an infant?how many times had she lovingly ..made me clean again?

Not quite understanding the last part of this write .. I believe GOD knows what is, and what was in our hearts .. He watches over, and forgives .. He is the only judge that matters .. .. This is a hard time in life for those who care for the elderly parent .. But it is also a chance to express love in it's truest form ...

Re-read...
Are we all just dirt under divinty's fingernails? Maybe with grace they allow us to be washed clean, clean slate...
We learn, hopefully with compassion and empathy

I think God most likely does not see things exactly as we do. Mere physical dirt is just the stuff of life. offensive only to some. I've witnessed something similar to this and can only say that I know how heartbreaking it is. Perhaps, on the other side, all will be restored.

my friend at work is dealing with her own mother's battle with alzheimer's . . . I try to remind her that she is blessed that Bonnie laughs at her forgetfulness . . .

she knows that she must enjoy this time, because time is too short sometimes

I agree with you in your words. We must return the gifts of love and care. My Grandmother fed and care for me for 18 years. My time came and I clean her house, brought and cook food for her. She left me at 94 years old. I still wish to see her old and wise face and hear her call me sweetie. You are wise and being kind to someone is the karma that will be return one day. A excellent poem.

This is real and raw; a lot of truth in there. I've been a student of world religions and philosophy most of my life. I think organized religion is the greatest threat to personal faith that exists, I believe God resides in our hearts and if we cannot find the Spirit there then we shall never find it in any book or building. I will not be told how to believe or what to believe by any man or script written by men since all men are liars; every one, myself included. Religion is simply a way to control the masses and it has been used as a tool for slavery, torture, murder, rape, sodomy and countless other sins against God. Adolf Hitler was a devoutly religious man and he used his Biblical knowledge to justifiably (in his eyes) exterminate 6 million human lives in the Holocaust. But history is filled with such atrocities committed in the name of God...the holy wars, knights of Templar, the Spanish Inquisition...even the modern Catholic Church and its never ending saga of sexual miscreants posing as servants of Holy office. A person's faith must be between them and God. That is what I believe. I do not disdain the beliefs of others but to me, we are all only dirt.

This is awesome!
I like your surreal way of writing my friend!
The dirt theme is interesting within this :)
From being underneath the fingernails to being symbolic, great work!

Although I find it slightly difficult to come to terms with this piece I quite like it.
