Dragons in the Clearings

Dragons in the Clearings

A Poem by Larry Dyson
"

halloween Samhains blessings and ceremony

"

Wood-dragons guard the woodlands

and riverbank...........With Honor......................

Nymphs guard and celebrate............

the coming festival of Harvest and bonfire..

whence comes the renewal of the creative force...

Stripes guard the innocense....delivered by the howling winds of Samhains' hand......raining in Autumn to bring forth the buds, in Spring ...focus for the..

New Life

poppy's addition completes it ....

and ...

so the death of light shall see spectres of the past fleet
And with them, they carry wise words
Amongst trees that offer wisdom
They speak of times when all shall be reborn
From the darkness we should consider womb like...
We can emerge with new graces and ideas
A candle lit instead of cursing such moments

shall always make us remember we are never far from home

There is something important in the embraced unknown. Whether it is a myth or belief.... Or fact. It holds us in a place where facts squirm to reveal a mystery over looked. A place where childhood has an openness needed to look at adult possibilities you hold this. It makes me want to paint to it.

looks like you are a good fantasy writer. Good piece I really entered into a world of dragons there.

Ah, badass tagteam Hollowe'en poetry. Very old school in tone. I liked both parts. Had that feeling of newness...freshness mixed in with that old tone. Great mix.

great to see this festival celebrated as a renewal of creativity and not just the sense of the year starting to end with autumns dying leaves. i look forward to this sense of rebirth :)

This is fantastic poetry. The last stanza is my favorite: "so the death of light shall see spectres of the past fleet and with them, they carry wise words, amongst trees that offer wisdom. They speak of times when all shall be reborn from the darkness we should consider womb like..We can emerge with new graces and ideas. A candle lit instead of cursing such moments shall always make us remember we are never far from home," love it.

The cleat mystic guides the unknown into the even more foggy, a well placed piece, good read.

I love your allusion to Samhain, the Celtic harvest festival. If my memory serves me right that was the time of year the Celts believed the veil between the living and the dead was the thinnest, thus high time for the fantastic to happen. I love the imagery you create of an elder day, all focused on rebirth. Beautifully put sir.
