Where memories go

Where memories go

A Poem by Pretty_as_a_Poet
"

About the people who slip away

"
Between the haze,
of summer days,
and somewhere,
where the colours fade,
to monochrome,
forever caked,
in dust and cobwebs,
picture frames,
retell the tales,
of yesterday,
"Remember when?"
and glory days,
of apathy,
and messes made,
when we still talked,
and where we played,
where genuine smiles,
never fade,
and Best Friends,
never go away,
where you and I,
will always lay,
amongst the flowers,
in the shade,
of the cherry tree,
who's trunk displays,
the arrow heart,
with both our names,
frozen in time,
the picture saved
the memories
that fade away,
into the void,
between the haze,
and somewhere,
in our summer daze.

This is wonderful. Really, this is a gorgeous poem. The bitterness of coming-of-age stories is always at its most sensitive when youth dwindles and you're left with the memories to carry on. Poignant and beautiful. Excellent work.
