My Drug Of Choice

My Drug Of Choice

A Poem by Lee Foreman
"

A poem about the greatest drug in my world...

"

Vulnerable to my drug of choice;

I see it sitting there in front of me-

Looking at me.

I get up and walk away, I feel it following me.

I run back to it; it sends me high,

High to an atmosphere nonexistent to mankind.

Feel the drug run through my body,

Making me so hot.

I fall back on my pillows no longer

A part of society.

“I have to quit!” I tell myself.

I get up and move my drug to the trash can.

I walk to the kitchen, it’s there,

I walk to my bedroom, it’s there.

I walk to the bathroom, it’s there.

My mind wants to be left alone,

But my body wants this relationship

To last forever.

I can taste it on the underside of my tongue;

Smell it through my burning nose.

I cannot resist the temptation that this

Drug has put upon me.

I sit indian-style on my bed looking at it;

Trying to read it.

It looks back; becoming an

Intrinsic version of myself.

I can’t keep succumbing to its hold

It has on me.

Apprehensive about rehabilitation;

Knowing I’m just going to relapse

Once I’m back in its presence.

I try to find fallacies in its reasons

To keeping a chain hold on me;

Have yet to find one.

Yet it continues to feed me logical

Reasons on why I can’t be without it.

Once again, I’m seduced into its

Everlasting love for me.

The hot rush creeps up my body;

Up, up from my toes to my calves.

Up, up to my thighs-

Up, up to my navel-

Up, up to my neck.

Never had a feeling so overwhelming

As this drug’s high.

I cannot part from it.

No never!

My man is some drug huh?

I love it! The poem itself is so seducing by sucking its readers in until the very last word. I loved the surprise ending and great poem! :)

My drug of choice ? Seroquel, considered the strongest anti-psychotics. Devil's medicine by some accounts. The real problem I have with it is once I take it (and it's never more than half a tablet), I can =EASILY= sleep for 12-14 hours 15-minutes after taking it.

It's a real effort to wake up in the morning unless I force myself. :)

If I =DON'T= take my Seroquel however I am bouncing off the walls, literally. Very hyper very rapid, talking too fast, thinking too quickly, hearing voices, seeing things, and burning up my brain until I'm laughing and crying all at the same time.

I have to take my Seroquel every day or I get a little crazy. :7

Captivating throughout and what a crescendo as you build up to reveal the source of this intriguing drug! He must be a most splendid chap to possess the ability to induce and infuse such healthy, intoxifying elation!

A marvelous, rewarding read and a credit to you obvious writing talent !

"Ahh the feeling of knowing there is a poison like no other. One not too contagious of but somewhat so deliberately potent that to get a cure from it would mean to drink more or eat of it! That's the feel of intoxication when we find ourselves longing for someone in our life. Erratic is nature but it is also oh so erotic! It is as if we are eating ourselves from the tree of life and we are sharing it so generously with someone we love and care about."

It's a beautiful piece and one with a good twist at the end! Thank you mam and hope you have a beautiful day :)

Nice form and flow, and nice sharp left turn at the end. That's the kind of ending that catches you off guard. Well done. And I don't think that there is an "Anonymous" group for that. No one would show up. :^D
