A Filthy Animal

A Filthy Animal

A Poem by Jason Buskey

A smile so singular

The darkness crept in fear

Sought refuge

In the deepest silence

Festering like all wounds

It waited

A filthy animal

Filled with spite

It found a fierceness

In her blood

a boiling rhythm

in her heart

that screamed with

With an unrelenting

beauty

Laughter

that taunted and

mocked every shadow

spilling light

into everything

it touched

but the lips

told lies

 the eyes and heart

couldn’t bare

my mind obsessed

 over every word

wondering

always wondering

pushing the magic away

that erupted

when words and time stopped

when her eyes became my own

when the pain and shame and fear

faded into a faint whisper

that’s growing slowly

louder once again

but that smile

that heart

 those eyes

that electric touch

that thrilled every molecule

every atom

every cell that it melted into

it should have been enough

for both of us

but something was missing wasn’t it

something wasn’t there

I couldn’t save you from yourself

And possibly became the very thing

That pushed you beyond the limits

Of your own self control

My hands slipped

I failed you

as i knew i would

The walls have grown ever higher

Without your eyes and smile

 to save me

I can feel the passion and desperation in this piece. It's haunting and beautiful and raw. I really like your work!
