The Time Traveller

The Time Traveller

A Poem by Eponine is my Spirit Animal
"

Just a time traveller.

"

I have seen so much.

The crumbling of societies,

The deaths of millions,

The destruction of hope.

I saw the Titanic sink,

The towers fall,

The innocent slaughtered

Yet I can do nothing.

I am the silent watchman.

Knowing and quiet

Unable to interfere.

I take comfort in the quiet things

The laughter of a baby

The ringing of bells

The silent moments in the middle of the night.

No one said it would be easy

I am the master of time

The associate of silence

I know my destruction;

I have seen it first.

I am the Time Traveller,

and I know how it will all end.

Author's Note

Eponine is my Spirit Animal
It's not about Doctor Who. There was confusion about that when I shared this poem in class.

Yeah, there were times in this that felt a bit Doctor who-ish, ha. But I think that's good since the show is like, an epitome of time travel. I feel odd about the placement of the 4th stanza. Maybe a 'However' or something to bridge it with the 5th would improve it. I don't know. Anyway, I liked it.
