Life and Death's Exchange

Life and Death's Exchange

A Story by lexgosomewhere
"

A tale of Life and Death.

"

Life and Death have been in love for longer than we have words to describe. Life sends countless gifts to Death, and Death keeps them forever. It’s Life that sends itself away, and when Death keeps it, we all wonder why. It’s Life’s fault. But why are we so fixated on this thought when Life is living in blissful ignorance. She doesn’t understand exactly how precious her gifts are. Death does, and locks it up, so that he can see the beauty of life.

But, why aren’t Death and Life together? Maybe then Life wouldn’t have to throw gifts at Death. Maybe then we’d all have a good explanation as to why they keep disappearing. Maybe then we’d be able to accept things fully. Maybe then we would enjoy Life and Death’s company. Why can’t Life and Death just be together? Maybe then I could stand by and enjoy Life a little bit more. Maybe then I wouldn’t admire Death. To receive such precious gifts would feel so foreign; It sounds so nice. So...alluring. Maybe that’s why I’m constantly hoping Death will come my way. I would hate for Life to finally get her love. Because that would mean that I wouldn’t get my wish.
