You Had Me At Goodbye

You Had Me At Goodbye

A Poem by Lexi Richard

it's become so very obvious
embarrassingly clear
that i am not the one for you
no, i'm not even near

it's time to slit open my heart
make it devoid of you
once it's clean i'll stitch it back
and it'll beat brand new

i'll bathe my brain in herbal tea
dump ice water on my soul
i'll pick your name out from my teeth
and i'll cover the cavernous holes

the tears about you, i'll cry away
i'll wash them down the drain
i'll cleanse my mind with thunderstorms
and pretend i feel no pain

i'll walk with an unfamiliar strut
a new confidence and new vibe
until i remember you again
oh, you had me at 'goodbye'

I liked the theme ... the formation of stanzas's wonderful. Very beautiful poem but the wrench of love made this poem much heartfelt.
