The Running Boy

The Running Boy

A Poem by EdenHarper

Downcast eyes and shuffling feet

past mistakes bound to repeat

merely by popular opinion, belief

The running boy did what he does best-

   he laced up his shoes...

and left you with regrets

Drowning on land, lungs finding no air

try to find new ways to repair

merely by a mask of smiles so fair

The Running Boy did what he does best-

   he laced up his shoes...

and left you to contest

Bits of soul scattered 'round, lost

pick up pieces but at what cost?

you don't belong in the world in which you've been tossed

The Running Boy did what he does best-

though shoes are worn and needing rest...

someday you'll see your path is blessed
