Not Forgotten

Not Forgotten

A Poem by Faith

Once you were here, but now you are gone

Locked within a dusty tomb

A tear inspiring memory

You were taken too soon

Withered, drawn, and lifeless

But do you only sleep?

Without you, life is without meaning

My heart forever weeps

I go to you at nightfall

Bearing offerings of roses red

And when I bend to kiss you

I know you are not dead

But your lips are so cold

So very cold and blue

And in a moment to hesitation

I wonder: “Could it be true?”

Suddenly, a movement!

Your body rigid with life!

At last, your arms embrace me

And hold me very tight

I knew it was not true!

I knew you were not dead!

I knew you only slumbered

Dark dreams in your coffin bed

Now my love, kiss me

Kiss me long and kiss me deep

Close the lid and put out the light

It’s time to go to sleep.

This reminds me of bad dreams that I have personally experienced. It also has a Sleeping Beauty vibe about it. Nice work.

About
I am the one that no one sees… Sitting at the corner table of the café. I find safety in shadows, in hiding from the world. Here… In the dark… No one can hurt me. Sometimes.. more..
