A Poem by lillian

youth is a thing with wings
always evolving; blossoming.
youth is a thing we hate to love
we try things we don't even know the name of.

but we seek things that come to us evolutionarily.
we like it when boys tell us we look so extraordinary.
boys like that girl with her hair behind her ear
they notice but don't act, for there's so much fear.

but youth is something that society loves to put a name on.
as if they didn't grow up singing the same damn song.
like they weren't sneaking out or trying harmful things
like it's a melody only we know how to sing.

so pressure of our peers need only be a barrier
cause regret is scary but never daring to learn might be even scarier.
