Absence

Absence

A Poem by TheTattooedPoet

It’s crazy how absence can clarify certain things.

For some, their absence just solidifies the fact that I want that absence to be permanent.

But with others,

With him,

The absence only makes me crave his presence that much more.

The absence of his presence next to mine,

His fingers tracing the curves of my body… learning every inch of me.

How’s he supposed to remember if he’s not here to refresh that memory?

The absence of his lips on mine is like a thirst.

I’m constantly reaching and finding nothing during midday dreams of him.

The absence of his voice is almost deafening.

Nothing else could ever sound as sweet so I block it out and instead,

Hear nothing.

The only parts of him that are present are the sweet seeds of thought planted in my mind…

Slowly growing into beautiful flowers of memories.

Their sweet aroma keeping me company until his face brightens my day once more.

Yet sensually profound...
