the morning after

the morning after

A Poem by amelia.elaine
"

this is about one of my close friends, who was having relationship problems, and was drinking and mixing oxycodin together

"

alcohol stains his breath
she can smell it on the tip of his toungue
the oxycondin bottle on the night stand
liqiour clenched in hand
clueless how she's found him
the intoxicated dreams take over
she pulls the trash can closer to the side of the bed
and lays his unconcecous body on his side

she sits on the edge of the bed
watching him, hoping he wakes
from his toxic slumber
everytime he wakes to vomit
she's there to hold him straight
the stinch of hard liqiour and his dinner
keeps her wide awake

the next morning he wakes to
the taste of vomit and booz on his breath
and a familiar face laying next to him
her eyes flicker, her body shoots upright
he can see the look in her eyes
nothing happened, she stayed up all night
to make sure he was safe, and alive

with a heavy hangover, he tells her its ok
to return to her dreams
she lies down and closes her eyes
he lays next to her
warps his arm around her and wishpers
"you're my best friend, i'm sorry, i love you"

he drank to kill the pain
that he woke up to the next morning

There are problems with typos, but it didn't stop me reading. It was worth it, too: Excellent last two lines.
