A Plea for a Heart

A Plea for a Heart

A Poem by Linear
"

It just happens

"

I came softly into your room last night, You were sleeping with your lover, in quiet slumbers, I searched, looked everywhere, beneath the bed, in every draw, Yet I couldn't find it any where. I stopped when i heard you moan, held my breath........waited You sighed and rolled over, arms around your lover, Oh where did you keep it, perhaps locked away? Standing, thinking, I crept up so I was next to your head, I whispered "where is it"? Silent tears ran down my face, my search was my final disgrace

But you must realise I need it back

I'm so tired of asking

for you

to

give it  to me

For you stole my heart

now give

it

back

Another stunning piece - I love the ambiguity of the theft in that the beginning implies an attempt at theft, whereas the end states a past theft on the part of the sleeper. It was also very clever the way you associated the heart and emotion in such a way that the metaphorical idea of steeling someone's heart here became literal. You brought a dead metaphor to life.

Wow...powerful and moving. I love the tragic way you described searching for something intangible. Beautiful and powerful.
