Beyond understanding

Something so true

But always unprovable

There is a fellow named Parmenides I think you might enjoy reading. He only has one known work and it's only partially recorded... a poem called "On Nature". That's where you want to start if you're interested in the study of existence aka ontology. "thought and being are the same"... for not having hardly any written work leftover to represent his philosophy he's pretty impactful. Some would say he is the progenitor of western philosophy. "nothing comes from nothing"

dear Dave... I have heard "there is nothing as constant as change". I first read it embedded into Marble in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. I just now looked on Google "Re" Parmenides and so forth. It is interesting. Thanks for
sharing. I mainly believe in the "Spirit" that each and every baby is born with, and we each have that Spirit with us until we "pass" away.... and then I "feel" our Spirit lives on in some form... perhaps being a part of another baby born. So to me all the philosophers ever cannot take that "feeling" away from me. The intricacies of our body and intellect did not just happen (in my mind). Thank goodness we live in a Country that permits us to "feel" freely as long as we do not infringe on other peoples feelings and beliefs.
Therein lies the evil thereof that our Country is now experiencing with the two Parties.
I love the "Writing" Desiderata by Max Ehrmann.

I am really not interested in what "we" believe. What interests me is what you can intelligently say within the limits of rational and logical thought. "We" are not equipped to properly interpret the massively complicated world around us. Anyone who says otherwise is either a liar or just plain deluded. I'll definitely look into Max Ehrmann when I get a chance. Have you ever heard the saying "no man ever steps in the same river twice" (by Heraclitus, probably... I might be wrong on that)
