seconds

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
you stay until you've payed
the beast monster
you see until you can't
explain the sight's
you try until it empties
irrelevant is the order
the moment is the gift
the cost it is...
a thing
to bear
upon an empty glass
and broken windows
you stay until you've payed

You stay until you've payed. Despite the broken windows and empty glasses. These are words of a survivor. I like how the opening and final lines are the same, for added emphasis. Repetition that works. Your posted image shows a glint of light in a dark place. I am reminded that depression and other mental health issues are a constant battle. They are the darkness waiting for the seconds when the light breaks through.

in life, we all pay a cost for what we do. This poem describes this situation very well. You push through life at any cost, until you've payed. I like the content and the way you used the same line in the beginning and at the end to emphasize your thought.
Nice write.
