Becoming What You Hate

Becoming What You Hate

A Poem by Gregory Stires

Grief is a wolf

Howling at thee moon,

His howl filled with despair,

His pack hunted down,

His pack butchered ,

Mourning the loss of his kin,

Now wolfs heart filled

With lust for revenge,

Avenging his pack

The wolf strikes the hunters camp,

Showing no mercy

To thee hunters

Tearing them apart ,

Taking away those

They had held dearest to them

Sparing no life for None of his pack was spared,

Satisfied his hunger do revenge

The wolf avenged his kin

That fell at the hunters hand ,

Now waking up from the rage that once consumed him ,

He howls in self loathing ,

Realizing he was no better than

Thee hunters who struck down his pack.

I like how there is some kind of spiritual like energy expressed in the poem
and how the loyalty the character "the wolf"
It is a little difficult for me to see the similarities the title has to the story
From my interpretation I would say that this particular wolf was a kind and peaceful character until something in him snapped.
If that is the case or you have a determination for it to have a different meaning then I apologize
But in all it was a very good peice of work in my opinion..

I think at some points you may have used "thee" in the wrong context, like "Thee hunters who struck down his pack" or "to thee hunters". I also suggest using punctuation, in poetry punctuation acts as a give of time from the author to let the reader take a breath and digest what they just wrote.
The story and implications in this poem are awesome and really good. It shows the lust for vengeance after grand loved ones die, and how getting revenge is just as unjustifiable as the first crime, and can make a person emote an even more massive feeling of guilt.

Good job.
