Rainy Day on the Highway

Rainy Day on the Highway

A Poem by Lady Wolf

A rainy day on the highway,
gray and wet.
Cars pass,
mist flying from the tires
like the steaming breath of dragons,
smoke curling from their nostrils,
eyes glowing balefully,
teeth bared at the storm.
They skid their way
along the smooth worn track
that is the river road.
Uphill
Downhill
A pack
A flock
A herd
A school
Together
Each dragon but a scale
Along the back of one much larger.
And not a one notices.

I like your use of metaphors and personification in this poem. Especially the lines -'mist flying from the tires, like the steaming breath of dragons,.' The imagery you've created in your poem is great and gives the reader a real sense of purpose to the writing. Well done, keep it up.
