Should've Taken A Chance

Well I had a chance with someone and I turned them down, and now, I really really regret that.

It was an ordinary day
I walked into class
I sat down right next to my crush and my best friend
Little had I known that my best friend and my crush had been talking all last night
Talking about me
He liked me
I liked him
Sounds like a fairy tale, huh?
Well it was
For a while
A couple weeks later my best friend approaches me after school
She looked like she was about to cry
She liked him too
Maybe even more than me
She tells me that he wants me to be his girlfriend, but he didnt want to ask me in person
As Im about to say yes, I look her dead in the eyes and say "no. Hes yours
I walk away crying
Knowing I had made a huge mistake
He gets another girlfriend
One thats prettier than me
He forgets about me
We get in a fight and doesnt want to talk to me anymore
Im heartbroken
I cry for hours and he doesnt even know
We go a whole year without talking and we barely even make eye contact in the halls
Fast forward a year
We are best friends again
He tells me about how beautiful his girlfriend is
How much he loves her
I cry mysellf to sleep at night
Knowing that I will never have a chance again
I should have taken a chance
I had the opportunity
And I rejected it
Something that will haunt me.
For years...
