A Poem by livelovewrite

Darkness envelopes me as I sit here in wait

The tension is building and I worry he may be late

But then I hear his voice rise up through the cracks

As he follows well known and well traveled tracks

He cheerfully greets those he holds dear

If this takes any longer it will be too much to bear

Perhaps he senses danger and is hesitant to let the good times end

After all, this should be the last warm wishes of love he will ever send

He peaks through the door and I know he senses my presence

Inch by inch he comes forward to see what I will present

Suddenly I stand up. I can’t do this today

Goodbye little mouse! Now be on your way!
