Depression

Depression

A Poem by Lizardo
"

It's a poem-short story

"
Once upon a time
A young boy heard a knocking door
Dropping his clouds and toys, the boy opened the door
Before he could realize who it was
Hell entered his soul and burned everything there ever was
Scared that hell could lock him away
He lock himself in a cave
Where darkness was his only friend
Where silence was the only trend

Hell looked for the boy everywhere it went
It knew that the boy wouldn't last long without
Love
The boy got tired of being sad in the cave
Where he had to only fade
So he left the lonely place
Praying to God for wisdom and pace
He dropped to his knees and ate from bread

Hell saw the boy walking in the twilight
It's flames devoured stone and water that night
It wanted the boy badly
It wanted to be feared not be loved
So he flew through it flames
Like a whirlpool of darkness and space

God answered the boy in dreams
The boy didn't feel scare anymore
He felt happy
He felt loved
God told the boy to not fear
But also to not be feared
He shouldn't be afraid of Isolation and facts
Because they are just toys from the human mind

The boy happy for his answered
Finally, the boy got what was taken from him
A happiness flooded his face
Yet it wasn't over
'Cause hell came rampaging with flames
Burning everything that was in place
But this time
Hell could not make the boy fall before him
As much sadness as hell tried to flood the boy's mind
The boy could not be taken down to his knees
Because he had reason to live for now

God ordered hell to sleep in a cage
Where it could never do harm again

Author's Note

Lizardo
I think this one is a pretty decent one, but it tells the story on how I was running from depression but how I confronted it with happy thoughts and God, and it's fading away.
Defeat darkness with Daylight.

This is brilliant! I thought, since you checked out my writing... Ages ago now, I might as well check out yours. I've been depressed before and this is an excellent way of describing how scary it feels and what it can be like... I really like the ending as well. Although to say that having depression is a pain in the a*s for the person that has it would be a complete and utter understatement, once I eventually dealt with all my problems holding me back from happiness the first time round and got through it, it's made it so much easier for me now in a way, further down the line, because now if my negative thoughts or emotions ever threaten to overwhelm me, it's just like I know my self better now and I know best how to stop them/ weaken them before they get too much. I feel like you really captured all of that in this poem. Very good job.

I can so very much relate to the feeling behind this one... I wish no one goes through this phase... its just difficult but if someone is really going through it then I will recommend this poem of yours... just a sheer brilliance it is....

I figured I would come to your page to see what you had written, and I am pleasantly surprised.
I feel that almost everyone is able to relate to this poem, in some sort of way. Some more than others. So it is interesting to see your point of view in such a detailed, yet story like way. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece.

So excited to see more of your work!

I agree with you. This phase of shutting everyone out and seeking solace in silence is something I am familiar with, So, it was easy to relate. Thanks for sharing.

On the more technical side of things, your writing has really improved. :)

Thank you so much Daisy! I am grateful for your comment :) Thanks.
Wow, this is great...

Yes, depression can make a person drift into isolation and sadness, but one can still stand strong against the hell and resist it with a great reason to live. One can still find happiness and be victorious.

I loved this one.

Thank you so much AMV, yes Depression is a mental hell, nothing you see is right and you always feel.. read more
Hell's fires may continue to burn in the lives of many here on earth, but it will never conquer us. Even the gates of hell will not stand, when we decide to stand on what we know is true.....

Great job in expressing this victory over depression.....remember, it is an ongoing fight......sometimes we treat God like a genie, and ask him to do something for us, without considering that we may have brought some trouble on ourselves. Despite him helping us when we ask, what helped me though past troubles was also to not contribute to a difficult situation.......I am looking forward to your next victory poem! :)

zardo, Your writing is more complete now, your writing is more mature, YOU are writing more maturely. This piece COULD HAVE been written like a hell-bent fantasy, with wizards and dragons to go with all the fire and flames of which you wrote...but you kept is straightforward as a inward battle of good OR evil. The imagery you employed was vivid and sharply defined, weaving tapestries to contain your thoughts, letting them fly when needed. This is a VERY good poem, Lizardo, you should be very proud of it. take care...dan
