The New You

The New You

A Poem by Indigo Ribbon

I've ruined too many pieces of my heart over that band.

I guess I met them through you, but

I’m not quite sure if I fell

in love, with you or them

Still, they're a part of who I am

I gave them to you

the new you.

He has curly brown hair,

It’s dark, almost black

And it reminds me of thunderstorm clouds

sending shivers down my spine and sparks in his eyes

He speaks happiness and laughs

in the sharp tones of bells

pure and harsh

and absolutely, abominably, lovely.

But I guess he’s still you

Cause I’m still hurting

And you’re still gone
