On You, Across The Table

On You, Across The Table

A Poem by Charles Konsor

We all want to believe our children will love us
Hold us, kiss us, stay with us,
and wrap their little hands around our fingers
Big eyes watch big people with big love

But they're a squirmy type
Run away, out of our arms
No matter how far we stretch

Exploring dust bunnies in corners
Carrying shoes to bury in the sand box
They all, will all, run away

And you see then,
Perhaps they are not yours.

Individuals behind those big eyes
And we, again, are left to watch
Like past loves left,
Mother, fathers, gone,
And a thousand friends,
drifted away

We own no one,
Our children owe nothing
And we will all realize how little we are
How alone we are

And in that we must find some happiness
We must find some truth
For them, for us,
For you

Hey man, Charles, I've never read much of your stuff and I'm not gonna blow sunshine up your arse as you are the owner of the website. Let me tell you something pal, this is f*****g good mate. It sums up how I feel at the moment! I'm just sitting in front of my computer screen waiting for the computer to speak to me, waiting for reviews. I'm too tired to review at the moment, I can't think let alone read!
I have a beer in front of me sitting by the keyboard. My forehead is creased up, my eyes black, yet I sit here endlessly, waiting for inspiration to write something. I have this dying urge to want to produce just something, even if it's tedious, yet I know that I'm in no state of mind to write anything half decent.
I saw you were on line and thought, let me read something of Charles's for once. He is responsible for this site. Well man your words spoke to me, that last stanza;

Unable to maintain this moment
This connection
This intimacy
Required to record it
Such is the curse of a writer

Wow! This was explained very well. I thought this was really awesome. The imagery; you just picturing this beautiful person and trying to figure what's going through her mind; she, so lonely and confused, afraid, and tired...Yea, I believe this is what I have gotten out of this. Forgive me if I'm way off hehe, but truly, the imagery you present is really awesome; I got it in a second :) Cheers!

Beautiful! U captured the small bit of insanity that us writers must deal with when we wile away the days creating our own little worlds and people.
"Writing, and believing
It's more important than living"
Yes, indeed. Great job.

Wow, I've never really looked at being a writer that way.
I really connected with:
Who wills away days
Writing, and believing
It's more important than living

Because even though I've never thought of being a writer, I've caught myself in a state where all I can think about for days at a time, is writing.
Well Written, Charlie.

i really loved how you ended this, but how you started it, i think i might have enjoyed that even more. the first few lines were amazingly poignant. i guess, as an avid reader myself, i can really relate to that. i loved the simple details you used, like how you were apologizing for shaking the table whilst typing.
such beautiful work, thank you so much for sending this to me.

So true.

I'm sorry it's taken so long to review this, but I finally got to it, and I'm glad that I did.
I loved this from beginning to end.
It's sad, to me, because of all the work you've put into perfecting this site, it has taken so much of your writing time away.

I do hope you have the site close to how you want it so that you can write more.... And please send it my way. I enjoyed this and look forward to reading more.

Oh and thanks for all you're doing for all of us dreamers, because like you said,
"Writing, and believing
It's more important than living"

Great stuff Charlie. : )

Ah, now this is an interesting poem. I love the commentary on the life of a writer. It's true, we're different from all other living beings. The flow and imagery are amazing, and your choice of words to describe the existence of the writer are phenomenal.

Congrats Mr. Administrator, on writing such a lovely poem.

Cheers,

Oz

outstanding from start to finish. the idea conveyed in the first stanza is brilliant, and stated beautifully. and the last two lines of the poem are devistating. i look foreward to reading more of your work. don't let website management steal too much time away from writing poems of this caliber

i like this because i think it paints a picture of something more than just an attraction, but more or less a deep friendship. i enjoy the line: "I don't read with you anymore I'm afraid." are you afraid to read because you don't want to ruin what has happened or are you just saying you're afraid because you just don't read with them? but it's a good piece. i enjoyed it.

I re read this today, it was on my read request list. coming back to it reminds me how simplistic love and friendship can be shared between two writers. i love the flow of it and the honest romantic feeling it resonates.
