My Dark Knight

My Dark Knight

A Poem by Lorna Lee

On an ebony stallion he’ll gallop in;
my prince of the night will arrive.

Through brambles and briar, to meet me again;
an answer to my lonesome cries.

I’ve wanted and waited and longed for him so,
dreaming of how it could be.

"Lying safe in his arms, and never letting go"
my Dark Night has come home to me.

This gave me such an epic mental image that I thought I had fallen into a fantasy land. My division officer had to flick me in the ear so that I'd listen to his passdown instead of getting wrapped up in your poem! Granted I showed him the poem and he looked at me and said "okay...yeah...I can see why you were paying more attention to this than me..."

So there you go! Great writing, epic imagery, and excellent flow.
I applaud thee!
Back to work for me =/

'...dreaming of how it could be...'

How many poems have been born of such thoughts we'll never know...but this one has a special sparkle that makes pondering such possibilities as night time visitations a new pleasure.

Nice work...

What a wonderful expression of the romantic dreams and feelings that most women and girls hold within their minds and hearts. This is a really good peice and I enjoyed reading it, it was a wonderful romantic and dreamy break in my day. Good work.

Wonderfully concise and yet the depth of longing revealed! The talent for poetry writing is a obviously a family thing.

By the way, if you ever tire of your Dark Knight, please do send him to me.

Lorna Lee! What a treasure you have here! I adore this as it's right up my alley. I love a great ending to a hopeful love plea. Goodness, you have outdone yourself here. Once a guy abandoned his work and jumped some bushes to talk to me. LOL. Your words here reminded me of that....
"Through brambles and briar, to meet me again;
an answer to my lonesome cries"
What a stellar poem and thank you for hope within your words!
