Dreams of You

Dreams of You

A Poem by Lorna Lee

I had a dream, the dream was you;
but then I woke up and sighed.

The bed was empty, the pillow cold;
I just broke down and cried.

The love I seek and dream about
comes to me deep in the night.

So I close my eyes to dream again
and be in your arms so tight.

Author's Note

Lorna Lee
We've all had those dreams that we awaken from and try desperately to rekindle by closing our eyes again. This one has come to me over and over and my real dream is to make it a reality.

I remember having a dream like that about a yellow porche and a bag filled with twenty million dollars in it once.. I was so bummed that it was all a dream...! :)

When dream repeat, they seem to have an important role to play in who the individual is. I hope all your dreams come true Lorna!

Hope all is well with you! :)

Dewdrop dreams...the ones that fall upon us just before we awake, creating a hollowness to the present yet somehow giving us hope to carry on.

Nice work, Lorna...

I can't tell you how much I can relate to this poem in this moment of my life. My beloved boyfriend is far from me and since he has been gone, all I do is dream about him only to wake up alone. It saddens me but with the help of poetry like yours, I can be strong and smile through the day as I wait for the night to come and bring back those sweet dreams.

I loved this for its simplicity. Those dreams that you don't want to wake up from are the worst. Secret desires of the heart, is what I believe they are. :) I thought this was beautifully written.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. And you're right, we'll all have those dreams that we don't want to end...that when we wake up we want it back. I love how this poem portrays that feeling. It flows gorgeously, excellently. I was so wrapped up in this poem I stopped chewing my food.
