payback...

payback...

A Poem by Brad
"

thoughts between father and son...

"

for every tear

that has your name on it

i still love you

for every bloom

of rose coloured blood

you spattered and spilled

i still love you

for every lonely moment

when i needed your guidance

and took faith in a blade or bullet

i still love you

for every birthday you missed

and never sent a card or call

i still love you

for every punch, kick or throw

the scars, the bruises, the hateful words

i still love you

for every denial

to every girlfriend

that i didn't exist

i still love you

why?

because you're my father

because at one time

when i was still in diapers

you openly loved me

you carried me

played with me

sang to me

and smiled when i came into the room

and somewhere

beneath all of the bullshit

is that same man

i don't know what happened

that crumbled the bridge

between father and son

but i'm standing on the other side

missing and loving you

wishing that nothing ever happened

...

"i still love you
why?
because you're my father
because at one time
when i was still in diapers
you openly loved me
you carried me
played with me
sang to me
and smiled when i came into the room
and somewhere
beneath all of the bullshit
is that same man
i don't know what happened
that crumbled the bridge
between father and son
but i'm standing on the other side
missing and loving you
wishing that nothing ever happened"

Good grief friend you just pushed hella mist out of my eyes... whew!
Man this thing started out in first gear, not knowing exactly who you were talking about, then it became apparent that it was your father, and wow did those gears shift up quick... my dad passed away when I was five, so I always wondered how he really felt about me... this poem is going to echo in some empty place that I forgot I had for some time now...

This was beyond an example of writing, it was a slice of loss laid out on a plate of possibility.

Bless you friend, I hope you and your pop's someday have each other as father and son again, soon.

Such a sadness for a child now an adult reaching out to a man he loves, a man who once had all the time in the world for him, and suddenly it all changed......gone was the love to be replaced by hurt...........a very strong piece, and should one word be true I would wrap it up and send it to him..........heart breaking, emotional write.

i still love you

for every punch, kick or throw

the scars, the bruises, the hateful words

i still love you

for every denial

to every girlfriend

that i didn't exist

i still love you

why?
