My Demise

My Demise

A Poem by Chasity Reynolds
"

1/18/13

"
oh, my mind,
how it spins,
in my thoughts you will find
everywhere I have been.

in the dark,
in the light,
trying to make my mark
in the darkest of nights.

it's not hard to see
where you fit in,
here beside me
above all other men.

but when I say I love you,
you turn your head away,
turning my cheeks a red hue
and keeping my words at bay.

it's not healthy to hold this in,
but if it can't be more than friends,
and my love could be looked upon as a sin,
then I suppose it should end.

your heart,
never broken,
never torn apart,
was once my greatest token.

now it is my demise,
leaving me left alone to cry,
though it is not only your heart, it's you I despise,
I suppose what I'm saying is...

goodbye.

I am not sure if it is your intent and whether you poems are fictional or inspired by your life, however, it seems to me you capture the angst of teenage life very well.
