Optimal or Maximal?

Optimal or Maximal?

A Poem by Louisa Chan

A

good

gardener

knows when to sow

and when to scythe when

Too much sun dries the bud

Too much weed kills the seed

Too much care grows the brat

Too much love spoils the loved

 Commonsense it seems statistics mislead

Why aim for perfection in evaluation?

100 is not optimal or maximal

It is detrimental!

Getting the balance right is so important. You can starve someone of love and you can kill them with too much kindness. There is a strong message contained in your lines here Louisa. Everything in moderation works best.

Thank you John! And so does Confucius, who said “everything’s best in moderation”.
