The Light

The Light

A Poem by luciddreamer

She once saw the light

And shared fairy tales with her children

Not the ones from books

The ones from the mind, the heart, the soul

Always bringing the child into the fold

Stories of courage, of passion, of pain

Stories of truth, of playing the game

But then the light died

And all she shared was the pain

Now she hangs her head in shame

Realizing what she has done to her offspring

Wait is that a sliver of light I see?

. ah, that's magnanimous writing ... exceptional poetry which is exceptionally moving ... perspective-wise ... i beg to differ ... just a bit ... i think that it is important for us to share pain too ... i think it makes children more resilient ... sugar-coated fairy tales sometimes transform into bitter pills ... and then children feel angry about the lies ... it is sad that the world is not as beautiful as we'd like it to be ... but it is sadder still if we are in denial about it ... for if we are ... we have no real chance of making a difference ...

Hello Luciddreamer,

You are quite correct, which is why I get all the shadows out for you and the rest of WC to read.

Regards,

Matthew

Yes, I bet it was!
It's too bad everyone can't be as honest as this Author.

oh so close to home~ my friend~ so very close to home . . . .
I've attempted myself to wind parables through personal deconstructed fairy tales~ and yes I have raised very strong young women~ but sometimes I see the jaded characteristics of me in them I never intended to pass on . . . . sigh
