My Voice

My name is Megan.

And this is my voice.

I am a survivor of the real world.

Abuse, bullies, conformity. Everything it had to throw at me. Killing off the one family member I loved. Moving a sister too far out of my reach. Twisting my life into a horror story of its own. Cutting, suicide, painkillers, burning, anorexia. Nothing put me out of misery. What did?

Hope. The people that stayed by my side, pulled me through, gave me what I needed. Who worked to get me over the rough spots, no matter what it took. The ones who would walk millions of miles if it meant keeping me sane.

But let's forget that. I'm not here to tell how I made it through. I'm here to pull others up.

Rule number one? Don't conform to what others want you to be. You're you, don't change that. You shouldn't have to.

Rule number two. Don't doubt yourself. If you push yourself, you can do it. Doubting only gets you nowhere. And you never know how well you are if you don't try.

Rule number three: Don't be afraid.
