Busy Days, Lazy Nights

I love the feeling

Of laying in bed

With my feet housed by blankets,

My head sinking into the softest pillow,

Arms wrapped around me protecting me.

 

He accuses me of sleeping too much

But you know, I truly can't help it.

Who wouldn't want to escape into a dream land

Free of stress, worries, pain?

 

My favorite time of day is when I get to lay in his arms

Even if he isn't really there with me, physically,

He is always there in my head.

Easing up behind me, quietly,

 Believing me to be asleep

Only to nuzzle my neck and place kisses on my cheek.

 

I absorb comfort from the warmth exuding from his body,

The lullaby of his breathing soothing me,

Sending me off on my next great adventure.

And I let him

Because I know that when I wake up

I'll be safe,

Warm,

And most importantly not alone.

I also think you have very cleverly woven a tale that is unique here; we believe you are speaking of someone who is "there" but then you let us in on the fact that he isn't always here, but you can dream him into being as though he is.
