A Scene from that Day

A Scene from that Day

A Poem by Matthew Arevalo

Under a spotlight, that’s how I saw you
Below the bright stars, beside a still sea
Together, we danced, sang and told stories
Stories with positively worthwhile ends
With scars to prove it’s indisputable
You, I fell, irrefutably certain
Under a spotlight, that’s where I saw you
Below the bright stars, beside a still sea
Alone, I danced, sang, told stories; weeping
Stories of a girl, I couldn't recognize
No scars to show, to prove her existence
To those who know, who is she, please, tell me.

I love the raw emotions. I felt that.
