Chapter 26

I slept. I slept all week thinking about him. I didn't want to see him.
Even though, I really liked him, I couldn't. It'd be too hard. I texted him,
and he never seemed interested anymore. I didn't know what I felt. I was still
in complete shock. My heart felt it too. That morning, of being at the beach for
2 and a half weeks, i decided to call him. "Ring, ring," the tone sounded. I was
hoping he would answer. "Hello?" Eli answered. Yes. He picked up the phone.
"Hi!" I said back. "Um, do you think we can maybe, go get some ice cream?" I asked.
"Ehh," Eli said. "Please, for me?" I asked. "Oh, alright," Eli said. "How about I meet you
there in 15 minutes?" I asked. "Sure thing." He said, all blue. The phone clicked.

I quick brushed my hair, and put it up. I put on some sweatpants, and a lose
sweatshirt. I looked gross, but I am sure he will understand. I walked there, and
tears were streaming down my face. I don't even know why. I felt lonely,
and I finally realized I wasn't alone in this world.. Cutting wasn't the choice.
It only scarred my wrists, and left ugly memories. When I got to the ice cream shop,
I saw him waiting. He had a big smile on his face. When he saw me, his happy
smile, turned to a nervous look. "Uhh, Hi." He said. "Well hey there!" I said.
We stepped into the shop, and ordered our ice cold treat. We went out to a bench,
and sat. "Look, I'm not going to waste my time if I am never going to tell you this,
but.. Milly," He said. "Yeah..?" I asked nervously. "I like you." He stared into my eyes.
His luscious black hair, blew as the wind settled. My heart stopped for a second.

"Eli," I said. "I don't think you do. I mean, look at me." "Look at what? I am
looking at you. Pure beauty." He stuttered. I was surprised. After all this,
he finally admitted it. "I, like you too.." I giggled. We just kind of stared, and looked
at each other for a while. I didn't know what to think of him. He was amazing.
Why would God want to give this amazing boy such a deadly sickness. Why. I
took out my wrists and showed him them. "Eli, I stopped because of you." I said.
He looked up, and told me, "I didn't. You did." He smiled. "You inspired me." I said.
We both kind of stopped, and just focused on our ice cream. I kept thinking
of what just went through my ears. My heart got so big, and it pounded like a punch.
I loved him.
