Sugar Veins

Sugar Veins

A Poem by Rae

I will write for you

every

time

you

place each toe to heel

and walk the tightrope

of openness.

Do not cough out your queerness;

chew it up into succulent pieces and

spit it on them.

Do not choke up your femininity,

your non-binary organism,

your ungendered outline;

you are yourself and I will

hold that self when safety flees

and tasting your identity is like

tasting chalky blood.

When you are ready,

turn the blood into sugar

and revel

in the goodness

that is you.

I quite enjoy the imagery in this poem, it's pretty creative.
