for this is winter, sir.

for this is winter, sir.

A Poem by Sawdust
"

cool and cold are different, are they not?

"
Not one flower is seen to bloom,
for this is winter, sir.
Even merry leaves wilt and droop,
for this is winter,sir.
Frost kills with it's night very long,
and goddess of doom sways in her song.
For this is winter,sir.

Cold winds hurt when they pass by,
for this is winter,sir.
and little birds fear claiming the sky,
for this is winter,sir.
The sun gets pale and forgets to smile,
colors get bleak and escape to exile.
for this is winter,sir.

{but}

Even in this bleak snowdrops blossom,
for this is winter,sir.
Stars shine bright in sky's bosom,
for this is winter,sir.
Joy and love ones heart does adorn,
since on one such night our lord was born.
{so rejoice}for this is winter,sir.

A wonderful poem with a even more wonderful message. It's so true that whatever happens we need to work and move on if we want to accomplish our goals. Great work 👍

This is a very beautiful poem. Winter can bring huge contrasts. It can provide spectacular and breathtaking beauty but it can also become a killer. At times deadly. She can lull us into a sense of false security, and does so on many occasions. Lovely read. Pleased to read you.

Thanks doctor.
Birds of a feather flock together.
Loved the repetition of line. Winter, at times seems harsh but the warmth of our loved ones makes it comforting. You have splendidly described the condition of nature and it's elements.

'for this is winter, sir'
shadow,
A comforting look at the truths that are seen by all as you proclaim, 'for this is winter sir'. The pictures also lendt depth to your meaning. Beauty is seen in contrasts too....snowdrops blossom and the reality of love given and received can give its own sweet warmth. I truly appreciated a conclusion such as yours...our Lord was born.
Blessings,
Kathy.

What a lovely read, really enjoyed the repetition of the lines. It flowed well with grace, charm and style. Had an old English feel to it. Made me smile. And think of Victorian England with maids and Large households with page boys and servants. Running around the house. Keeping all in order.
