A Poem by Mandi

Written on 7-22-2013

I closed my eyes,
Lifted my arms, and asked
For a passion for souls.
I knew that's what You desired, God.

So I knelt and pressed my
Face and hands on the carpet,
Begging to touch You,
To experience how You feel to the lost.

As I pressed in, tongues erupted
From my lips, causing me to think
According to my spirit and Yours
Rather than my mind and flesh.

My spirit began to churn as I
Continued to be awakened of Your heart,
When suddenly the anguish hit.
I heard my voice begin to groan.

I rocked back and forth on my knees,
Taking in the pain that I could
Hardly handle.
Oh Lord, how do you cope with such?

I know it's because of Your love for
Us that you are distressed by
The path people are caught going down,
A road straight to hell.

Father, I realized while I was
Experiencing this anguish that
People are so blinded by what state of
Despair their spirits are going through.

Then the pain hit, the pain
Of the lost spirits crying out.
I began to scream,
Tears running down my face.

I grit my teeth hard
Suffering, broken, afflicted
By this deep, deep spiritual anguish.
I was caught up in Your heart.

People think that when they touch You
All they get is Love and Joy from You,
Father, but no!
You are painfully waiting for these stranded people.

I realized that they must
Seek after You, God.
They must get to the point where
They are ready to give you their lives.

There's something about when
People surrender like that
That You gleam and sigh.
Our hearts content You.

That doesn't have to make sense,
For when we offer that it is
Nothing next to a perfect sacrifice.
But You are so pleased.

You hear those who cry out,
And, faithful One, You answer.
As I grieved over these souls,
You told me this.

And God I now understand,
Anguish brings forth true Joy.
I can gladly say that You
Have placed in me a passion for souls.

A desire to give everything.
To share my story,
To listen to others,
And to continually seek You.

Anguish. Oh Anguish.
This impact resides in my spirit,
Preparing the way for inner completion,
That one day, Lord, You will accomplish in me.

Praise God. Praise God. Praise God.

Simply beautiful. The anguish was expressed so perfectly, I could feel it building within me, as it often does when I think of the heartache which is humanity's present existence. My heart, too, cries out for the lost souls and your poem wove all the feelings that come with such reflection together in such a wonderful way.

That is so true and honestly well said. Its not that so easy. The anguish could be so unbearable at times. You have a genuine heart. I can see it poured out in your piece...

I love the imagery in this poem! In order to see the world the way that God sees it, we all must ask him to melt our hearts of stone down into nothing but rubble and rebuild them with living and breathing flesh. Awesome job!
