NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

A Poem by Sonia Walker
"

Some are to be broken, others to be kept.

"
The new year has arrived,
and I made a list to be prized
of resolutions I hope to keep
and a promise to myself not to weep
in case they are broken and forgotten,
making me feel guilty and rotten,
the first one on the list is to save money
which will make my hubby as sweet as honey,
another one is learning a foreign language,
perhaps studying French would be an advantage,
especially if I win a trip to romantic France
by entering a contest and taking a chance,
on the bottom of the list and carried from year to year
is keeping up with household chores which I fear,
one that makes me feel like a robot for my entire life,
a mechanical housekeeper and hardworking wife,
it is replaced with a happy thought,
something which makes sense and is not wrought,
it comes from the heart and that is being kind
to all I meet throughout the year which I do not mind.
