HALF OF MY LIFE

HALF OF MY LIFE

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

There will be no tears in heaven.

"

It was a gloomy morning--the sun covered by grey clouds

Rolling thunder echoes with the sound so loud.

Rain started to pour, I looked at the window;

Everything is depressing, I turn my back, I couldn't look at you

As you are there, lying in your bed chasing your breath.

It makes my body numb, stuck and I can’t move my feet.

Every time I look at you, it’s tearing my heart

I can’t accept the reality and I don’t know where to start,

Every time you call my name, it seems it is your last,

I can feel your heart slowing breaking like a fragile glass.

Now for the last time, I want to hold you,

I want to comfort you to end this sorrow.

If only I can give you half of my life

I will do it to extend your years, my loving wife.

My tears, your tears will fall, but remember me when you go,

Tomorrow I’ll face the world alone with this sorrow.

Half of my life will be with you; I promise we will see each other again

My loving wife, remember: there will be no tears in heaven.

I just want to reflect how my Father loves my Mother. My Mom died when I was small, she battles cancer all her life and it is hard for us to accept the reality especially my Father.

When we lose someone close to us only we know how it feels, how we wish we would have given every single breath of ours to them, how we wish that it would have us instead of them.....you poured down every emotion in this white of yours..A really nice write Marc.

The Poem is beautiful, such feeling. Its given me goosebumps.
You really captured the helplessness we feel when there is nothing more we can do for a loved one.

What a beautiful picture you painted of his love for her. This is extremely moving and emotional. Your wording and thoughts here are very heart wrenching and tender.

Wonderful, Marc!

This is very moving, Marc. You have re-enacted the total desolation of loss, of the heart stove in two. P.

Thanks Sir Pete :)
This is a lovely tribute. It seems a bit disjointed in areas, almost like you were reaching for the words to rhyme. I think this may have been better as a prose piece. Your imagery, however, is impeccable.

Beyond words. I cried, and my tears say all.

I offer my prayers and comfort...even if you aren't religious.
