A Poem by Marian Elizabeth

Expected I was to dream

Of whimsical dandelions

Marrying adventurous winds.

Instead I dared dream a dream

Where desperate eyes meet

Death’s permanent wound on life;

Pupils bitterly indulging

In a last instant of wonder

Before his scythe cuts the light.
