Spaces

Spaces

A Poem by Marie Owens
"

I have many poems written, but this is the first I have ever published.

"

I don't really remember it.

The spaces, the darkness.

It doesn't seem like it was real,

Like there was something amiss.

Just pieces of my life, gone.

Something that doesn't matter.

Mere seconds, not hours but

Can missing them get harder?

Remembering what it was like

Gets harder every day.

It happened so long ago,

It's almost gone away.

It seems almost fictional

That it should happen to me.

I'm so far removed from it

But it's there for eternity.

This is my first poem I have ever published onto a site. I am extremely shy about my writing, although I have many things written that will be published, but I decided to do this one first. What do you think?

This poem, first off, has incredible flow. I like the sounds of the words when I whisper them. You should absolutely not feel shy towards any of your writing, whatsoever! Anybody can relate to this poem with ease. Isn't it the mind's way to block out pain and tragedy, to distance itself from any horrendous accident? The irony is the fact that the narrator is actually trying to remember the darkness, which can be assumed, wasn't all that pleasant. Excellent write, I can't wait to read more of your work! ~Tunder~
