Guilt

Guilt

A Poem by martinos74

Today I saw a man with a hole in his mouth,
What had he done to deserve such a fate?
I felt instant pity, and guilt that I had escaped such a fate.
I walked on by, went back to work and forgot about it.
Until now.
The pit of my stomach hurts again.
