The Moment Goes

The Moment Goes

A Poem by Benjamin Seymour
"

"
Struggle to understand
That this is it,
All we have,
And it cannot last,
Seems so short to me.

Lights dim; the denim's cold
On your jeans as I rest my hand
The moment goes.

Fury smoulders up inside,
Throw the lamp across the room
Only to realise,
The rage has passed.

Nightmares crawl down my spine,
Sweat until skin soaks sheets
And the quilts underneath,
The moment goes.

Hide behind a masquerade smile
Diguising true feelings,
But all the while,
Laughter subsides,
Replaced by frowns.

Reach out; touch the glass
Fingers tremble
As I steady hold -
Take a sip,
The moment goes.
