Dreaming

Dreaming

A Poem by Freedom's Child

The most sunny day with the perfect heat and a surrounding blue sky
Laying on the beach watching sets of waves make their way to the shore
A penny heads up nestled in the sand by my toes
No need to take it nothing to wish for when it is this perfect
Children throw water as they endlessly laugh and splash at the ocean's edge
The water so clean, a giant window that looks for miles
Shells and pale sand without a blemish for as far as I can see

A loud siren starts it's echo in my head
Slamming me from slumber
My head racing trying to find who what when where
Reality stabs my heart and bleeds the truth
A dream of a memory for someone before me
This dream mined for riches
Money so much more important than the laughter of children
So much more important than having a place called earth
