Lone Candle

Lone Candle

A Poem by Matthew James Ginn
"

How long does a candle last under the strength of the wind?

"
Lone Candle

a wisk of blue fire alone in the night
a brisk wind softly dying
humming
the pyre raging alongside the light
a distant melody ,
a distant crash?

in a dark room of ash
does a shadow roam
in the wake of entropy
the inner sight
instills a forgotten light
Will my memories be of home?

Under the calm of a thousand moonlight tides
the finches will come
wings broken
the finches will come, tonight

fade well
young one
this oblivion brings the end
fret not
for the heart
of all things

Now "fading well" that is an honourable thought to consider!

I like your style Mathew and the way you portray things gradually with a deep message. I also like the title for it reminds me of the Lone Star state which I lived there for a long time before moving to Al.
Keep it up sir.
