i love your poem

i love your poem

A Poem by shoaib

I told you I hated your poem but secretly I knew it shined
The words were so full of vivid colors they could only be heard by the blind
And each line was composed bringing old ideas back into my mind
They said that love was divine and our lives were intertwined
How blood was like wine and how cutting to feel wasn't a crime
How time healed wounds and that forgetting was just part of time
So I told you I didn't like your poem, knowing it was too confined
It didn't make me feel new things and honestly it was flawed in design
And that its content, structure, and form were somehow misaligned
And I said it knowing the whole time that I simply was lying

So I'm sorry I lied: I told you I didn't like your poem and that was unkind
Because secretly I loved your poem, I just wanted you to hate mine

Pretty freaking cool write. I love, and I do mean love and I know I tell you all the time but the rythme of your writing it flows so perfectly. I can hear you speaking it and the beat in my head. xo
