Close Enough to Touch the Plastic Base

Close Enough to Touch the Plastic Base

A Poem by THE [ME]GEAN
"

An upset erase of a broken person.

"

Show me who you really are deep down inside

Past all those little things away from everyone

Its just defensive- pensive fun and games

Until theres someone needed for the blame

Then you cower

What else could give those people power?

Go ahead and buy in my friend

Breaking me down and burying my pen

Just show me whats really “’far”

Cause you know where you are

About those little things that keep you close to me

Close from being like everyone else

But baby you need a little help with that

What else could keep you fat and happy

But the drama of being a dreamlike sappy

Fake plastic thing

Cause you know where you cling

Keeping it real was never your deal

It’s just a popular saying that gets you by

And when the defening roar

Of the audience you adore

Screams “Bye”

You’ll know who you are

Its keeping it far.

I think I hear the bongos being played in the background- POW- and the clicks and um hmms, and Oh Yeah Sisters, and I am going to put down my coffee cup and my skepticism and I am going to say that you are a poet on the updraft and I am so glad I got to see your work while you are still on Writer's Cafe...

this one reminds me of a slam, you have a good command of words and i like how you chose to use certain words in the right place.

"Keeping it real was never your deal

It's just a popular saying that gets you by"

I love this sentence.. it is very true for so many people who use that expression.

Great work!
